Are you hungry to write a nonfiction book that will change the world – but keep hitting a wall with your book proposal?

You’ve tried it all—the 4-week DIY course and sample proposals, and coaching calls. You’ve even read books about book proposals—but you still haven’t written or sold yours.

And after all this work, you’re left with unanswered questions:

  • What are agents and editors truly looking for right now?
  • Is every part of a proposal essential? What elements must be there?
  • What’s the difference between a proposal that sells and doesn’t sell?
  • How do I know my target market for sure?
  • What kind of competitive titles should I list in my proposal?
  • Am I doing this right?

Not to mention, DIY-ing your dream book proposal has been an overwhelming, lonely process that has left you doubting yourself. You’re starting to wonder if you’ll ever be a best-selling author who changes hearts and minds.

Even for your normally can-do, confident, go-getter self, this process of writing and selling your book proposal on your own has depleted your drive and confidence.

ENTER BOOK PROPOSAL ACADEMY

As a publishing industry expert with almost 20 years’ experience, I’ve seen countless brilliant authors go through the pain and frustration of trying to complete their book proposal alone. I knew had to share my industry knowledge and create a solution that would move their world-changing ideas from their heads into bestselling books – where they belong!

This coaching program will help you develop a book proposal that SELLS. It is a proven process that helps you craft a proposal that agents and editors are excited to buy.

Write Book Proposal

In this program you will:

  • Have direct access to a book industry expert who has helped authors sell their book proposals to big-5 publishers
  • Have one-on-one guidance crafting your book proposal—no more guessing what works
  • Get feedback and stay on track with weekly lessons that include built-in writing time
  • Have moral support and accountability as you write your proposal, in carefully crafted stages that are proven to work
  • Be part of an intimate, exclusive group of change-making thought-leaders who are going through the process with you
  • Write a book proposal that can actually sell – and sell soon

When you’re 100 percent clear about your idea, story, audience and market, your proposal will rise to the top of the pile, or skip the pile straight into an editors hands! But you’ll need help getting there.

Wait, 14 WEEKS?! I want this done yesterday!

Yes – 14 weeks. No matter how productive, intelligent and determined you may be, a book proposal that sells takes more than three or four weeks to write and polish. You’ve probably seen DIY courses that say you can write it in less time, but in my experience helping bestselling authors write and sell book proposals, this is not possible or realistic. In fact, this is the quickest way to waste your time and money, not to mention increase your frustration.

It may seem like a long time, but Book Proposal Academy is a fast track to getting your proposal done in the right way. It’s a guarantee that your book idea doesn’t end up in some editor’s drawer collecting dust. And you’ll have it done by the holiday season, which isn’t that far away.

Your brilliant, change-making book needs and deserves time, expert guidance, and quality feedback.

It needs the wisdom of someone who knows what agents and editors want to see, and it needs the support of peers who are going through the process with you. It’s not a secret: a dedicated cheering section is vital to every author’s success.

The Academy is comprised of an intimate, exclusive group of people—I only accept a handful of people into the program who have a good chance of selling their book.

How do I know it works? Book Proposal Academy graduates have landing 5-figure book deals after taking my 14-week intensive proposal writing course.

Here’s what Sebene Selassie had to say about the course, which helped her sell her book for 5-figures to a big-5 publisher:

“I didn’t feel like I could crack my book proposal. My agent suggested Joelle and her course. I saw that it was a pretty big investment…but I took the plunge after speaking to Joelle and really connecting to her…sensing that she really knew how to guide people through this process, and I wasn’t wrong…the proposal went to auction and I was able to get a high 5-figure deal with a big-5 publisher. I’m really excited about this!”

WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR

The Book Proposal Academy is not a program for dabblers or “Sunday writers.””

It’s not for people who don’t know what kind of book they want to write yet (listen up – if this is you, I have other services that will prepare you for BPA, so let’s talk).

Book Proposal Academy is for people who are burning to write their book and share their insights, their method, or their story. And they want to do it now.

It’s for those who are on fire with a book idea. It’s for people who can’t wait to see their book in print. For people who are focused and motivated. It’s created especially for people who think that 14 weeks is too long—I assure you, the time spent thinking, revising, incorporating feedback, and polishing is well worth it, and it’s the difference between selling and not selling your book!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Over the time we work together, we do as much writing as possible during class. This helps to maximize your time—something we’re all short on—and minimize distractions. As a Book Proposal Academy student you’ll get:

  • Access to me anytime via Slack—ask questions, get feedback and answers,
  • Live, weekly lessons via Zoom video conference and a dedicated time to write,
  • The support of a small, select group of peers who are all working on incredible books,
  • Live monthly Q & A to ask more questions, or take the hot seat and receive feedback from your smart, motivated peers,
  • Two 1-hour meetings with me to finesse your book idea and track your progress,
  • Accountability, support, and expert knowledge about what will help sell your book.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!

  • Plus, I will read every section of your proposal to tell you where you are on track and where you can improve, and
  • This includes one final read of your completed draft  – with suggestions of what to add, cut and refine.
  • By the end, you will have a finished, polished book proposal that is vetted by an industry professional.

“I found Joelle just as I needed to push my proposal to completion. She helped me refine the ideas for my second book, better connect the material I already had, and polish up the language. She both pushed me forward and took my cues in that delicate balancing act that a skillful writer and editor does. Together we made this proposal exactly what I wanted it to be—and what my agent and editor wanted, too. I’m very grateful for her expert help.”

The time and money you invest in this program is far less than you’ll spend figuring out the book proposal on your own, guessing at answers, wondering if you’re doing it right.
